JWS helps leading social housing maintenance company develop sustainably conscious waste management methods
With more than 280 members of staff dealing with social housing clients with over 27,000 properties, Oldham-based City Response Limited is one of the leading domestic maintenance companies in the north of the UK.
Since 2007, JWS has worked closely with City Response’s Environmental Technical Manager, Ian Duerden, to address the ways in which the company tackles its waste management and recycling requirements.
Having established a reputation as a sustainably conscious operator, including achieving the ISO14001 quality standard for environmental management, City Response has focused on further improvement of responsible waste management and recycling practices.
Following the initial introduction of a single JWS skip to the working yard for the collection of daily waste from varied jobs, Ian’s guidance during subsequent years has seen City Response’s waste management provision grow significantly.
Now, JWS provides the business with a variety of different sized containers, including skips and rollonoffs to handle separate waste streams generated by the numerous daily deposits by City Response’s maintenance vehicles, all overseen by a dedicated yard manager.
All waste collected is then safely collected and processed by JWS before being diverted to the appropriate places for recovery or recycling.
