Jones Homes’ forward thinking environmental manager demonstrates the company’s positive approach to waste management in a single service provider agreement with JWS
Part of the Emerson Group, one of the UK’s largest privately owned property developers, Jones Homes is well equipped to co-ordinate the waste management of its numerous construction sites throughout the North West and beyond, thanks to Peter Barsby, the company’s dedicated environmental manager.
Based at the head office in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, Peter has restructured waste management operations at numerous development locations including Lancashire, Yorkshire, the Fylde and the South East. With over 40 projects typically underway at any one time, the potential for review and cost saving led him to investigate possible areas for improvement in terms of both financial and environmental performance.
Where previously the most local contractor had been assumed to represent the most cost-effective option, over three years ago Peter discovered that once all options had been considered, JWS’ capability to handle the consolidated waste management and recycling requirements of Jones Homes actually made the most economic and ethical sense. Partnering with JWS represented a real savings advantage, particularly during a period of instability for many UK contractors.
Over three years on, the relationship with Jones Homes continues to develop, with JWS’ logistic capabilities and commitment to reducing environmental impact justifying Peter’s decision to implement the arrangement.
